Create an airy retreat for family and friends

You've probably admired the sunrooms and solariums in some the shelter magazines with their light, bright decor, especially when it's winter and every occasional ray of sunshine lights up your day.

Sunrooms are wonderful spaces for relaxing during the summer when you can throw open the windows and entertaining year round. With the right orientation to the path of the sun they can also become the ideal spot for tropical plants, in effect becoming a conservatory.

Plan in advance to make the most of your sun room remodeling project. Hire a project with experience planning and constructing sunrooms, and if you need help with the design phase, qualify the contractor in advance. Don't forget the basics:

• Ask for copies of licensing and all insurance including Workers' Comp, if needed.
• Ask for references for similar projects, then contact previous clients.
• Read the contract completely. Make sure there are warrenties that cover labor and materials and specify who is responsible in case of problems.

Covering the bases before work starts means your project will go more smoothly with fewer surprises. And you'll have a sunroom to die for.
