Rejuvenate your kitchen cabinetry

Your cabinets may have seen better days, but don't rip them out just yet. If the cases are in good condition and the kitchen layout works, you may be able to save hundreds of dollars by having your cabinets refaced instead of replaced.

High-quality kitchen cabinetry is expensive. Much of it is no longer made of solid wood or even plywood. Often medium-density-fiberboard (MDF) is used on the carcass then veneered in the front. Drawers are often made of MDF or particle board, then veneered or laminated. Only the drawer face may be made of wood.

The range of quality is all over the board, but for the most part hardwood cabinetry using fine woods such as cherry and walnut are priced out of the range of mere mortals these days.
